The Great Spring Kitchen Gardening Giveaway

Filed under: Uncategorized — Michael Paterson @ 10:11 am

This time of the year, almost Spring in the UK, the newsagents and bookstores shelves are groaning with written offerings relating to your favourite subject and activity: gardening.

They are,of course right to be exhorting you to take to your gardens,at this time, and your greenhouses; and cold frames, or whatever else you use to protect your sown seeds and young plants. It is an excellent time to sell gardening journals and products. The publishers are, mindful of the opportunity, are offering some bumper issues full of gardening guidance, tips and reviews, often beautifully illustrated in full colour. Then there are the inserts published by the seed, plants and gardening tools suppliers, also colourful and informative.

You will be amazed at the range, and the cover prices from 1.99GBP to 9.99GBP.Spoilt for choice, you will see that most publications each have their giveaway, a bonus for purchasing.Packets of seeds are a favourite, and make for ease of distribution with a magazine product. Occasionally, you will be offered a small trowel or fork. Picking out a middling priced magazine at 3.60 GBP on the Tesco shelves (but available in many good garden centres and newspaper shop), you will find good value without overextending your spending. One such is called: ‘Grow Your Own’. This is devoted to the kitchen garden, so we are talking growing fruit and veg. Articles by leading experts, like Geoff Hodge, and Pippa Greenwood of BBC Gardener’s World fame, nestle among house tips for stopping weeds, detailed advice on growing tomatoes, planting herbs in your veg plot, and allotment gardening, and much more. Oh and, of course, the giveaway: a useful packet of squash, pumpkin and courgette seeds to start the growing season, and 55 page green essentials guide to ‘Perfect Lawns’ worth 3.99 GBP on its own!

You can find out what’s on offer at the Grow Your Own website for yourself.
You can sign-up for a subscription, or take a trip down to your local magazine store.

More giveaways soon as I spot them.
